20 Leopold Road, Bristol
The brief for this suburban garden in Bristol was to soften the hard paving of the patio, create a wildflower meadow, a new pond, and enhance the existing borders for birds. The final design included a living sedum cover (using ‘green roof’ species) for the concrete coping of the patio walls; the existing patio was bordered with Mediterranean herbs; and a wildflower meadow was planted under the mature apple tree. Further enhancements included a new pond and fern border in the shady area at the bottom of the garden, and three newly-created interlocking lawn areas surrounded by new layers of flowering and berry shrubs in a woodland edge border.
